ATT Power Drum Is a 2-in-1 Apple Watch and iPhone Wireless Charger With 3,000mAh Integrated Battery

While Apple’s AirPower is nowhere in sight, we have seen quite a few Qi wireless chargers hit the market that can charge the Apple Watch and an iPhone simultaneously. AT&T seems to be working on a similar accessory as per an FCC filing.

An FCC filing from AT&T shows the carrier working on the Power Drum Wireless Charger. As the images show, the Power Drum is capable of charging the Apple Watch and an iPhone at the same time. It even comes with a 3,000mAh battery and is capable of Qi wireless charging a device at up to 10W. The Power Drum definitely seems like a handy gadget to have especially if you own an Apple Watch and an iPhone.

The integrated battery makes it an ideal device to carry while traveling, though the 3,000mAh battery inside is not going to be enough to fully charge an iPhone XS Max and an Apple Watch at one go.

The retail box documentation in the FCC filing only mentions support for Apple Watch Series 1-3, though there’s no reason for the charger to not support Apple Watch Series 4 as well. The Power Drum wireless charger will also feature a Nightstand mode that will allow the Apple Watch to be used as an alarm clock while it is being charged. The document also lists the price of the gadget at $99.99.

The only downside of the Power Drum is that it features a microUSB port. Ideally, the device should have featured a USB-C port as it would have made the life of someone owning a MacBook Pro, Apple Watch, and an iPhone easier.

Class Action Lawsuit Against Apple Over Spectre and Meltdown Vulnerabilities Gets Dismissed

The hardware vulnerabilities Spectre and Meltdown were big deals leading into 2018, but it looks like Apple will avoid major legal action in regard to a class action lawsuit filed against the company. Apple Hit with New Lawsuit Over iMessage and FaceTime Encryption Tech

Apple has been subjected to a lawsuit over iMessage and FaceTime for infringing on eight patents of Finnish company MPH Technology. The always-on VPN feature of iOS, a feature primarily used for mobile device management (MDM) by enterprises and corporations, is also a part of the lawsuit. The lawsuit alleges that MPH tried to license the technology used in iMessage and FaceTime to Apple in 2016 and 2017 to no avail. The Finnish company informed Apple about the patent breach in 2016 first. MPH and Apple representatives discussed the matter further, going so far as to hold multiple teleconference sessions in May 2017 regarding a potential licensing agreement.
