Amazon May Launch an Alexa-Enabled Microwave Before the End of 2018
Amazon’s digital personal assistant, Alexa, is all over the place. And according to a new report, it’s going to keep spreading.
According to a report from CNBC, Amazon is working on a variety of different devices that it plans on bringing to market, all of which will feature Alexa in some fashion or another. These Alexa-enabled devices will allow users to quickly talk to the digital personal assistant, with some of the devices having Alexa built right into the hardware.
As for what’s coming? Amazon is working on an amplifier, a subwoofer, a receiver, and what is being billed as an “in-car gadget”. Oh, and a microwave. That’s right, we will soon have an Alexa-enabled microwave. Unfortunately, other than hearing that Amazon will unveil some of these devices, not all, at an event later this month, there’s no word on a specific launch date.
So Amazon could introduce an Alexa-enabled microwave before the end of the month, which basically mean we’re just a few steps away from an Alexa-enabled sink.
Our Take
This is both surprising and not surprising. We’re getting to the point where these accessories are going to just have these smart. Come on Amazon, get those Alexa-enabled toasters out there. The unfortunate part here is that we’re still waiting to see if the HomePod is going to get a cheaper option, so we’re probably going to be many, many years away before we see Siri on something like a microwave.
